(Edit: Oops. March has 31 days. Sorry for the mis-schedule of this article.)
This week’s Web 2.0 Weekly focuses on a tool that helps you organize your daily reading of God’s Word, YouVersion.com.
YouVersion provides more than just an online version of Scriptures (many English translations including ASV, ESV, NIV, KJV, and The Message in addition to several non-English language versions). YouVersion also provides several free audio versions of the Bible as well as many reading plans to help you read all, or part, of the Bible in 30 days to 2 years. The most exciting aspect, however, is the ability to make and share your own comments on what you are reading with others.
Strengths:
- Multiple English language versions of the Scriptures
- Free spoken word editions of the Bible
- Many reading plans
Weaknesses:
- Several of the audio versions only contain the New Testament
- Site layout is a little confusing
YouVersion.com is of interest to anyone that desires to read and study the Bible regularly. The addition of a social network built around the study of God’s Word is also very compelling. YouVersion is free but does require an easy to complete registration to make use of some of the features.
YouVersion requires a modern web browser, an Internet connected computer, and the standard browser plugins (Flash, Java).

Thanks for the review and kind words. We’d love to know how we can improve the layout if you have any ideas.
