Although there are times, it feels funny not being in a classroom, I been doing a lot of teaching lately, or at least trying.
Being a principal is tough, being a brand new principal is finding itself to be a challenge that could be more than I thought. Â I been enjoying my time so far, and I wouldn’t change it for anything. Â I do however feel as each day goes by, the more I need to be working on projects, reports, and other office duties. Â The trade off is losing connection to the classroom, the students, the teachers, the parents.
This past Friday, I got to go to a Professional Development Conference last Friday with my teachers. Â and I loved it. Â We had Terry Schmidt as our main speaker. Â I gave my teachers an assignment that they needed to report about the sectionals they went to and what they liked.
I been so busy, that I have not had time to do any learning.  I was starting t lose connection to what I find the best job in the world.  I need to deliberately go out of my way, to make sure, my learning needs are met.

I had an “unplanned” absence yesterday afternoon and Jim took my classes. That may be a way for you to make a connection occasionally.
He is also taking the “21 Things” class.
The first year in any position – even if it is “only” changing grades is a tough one. Knowing that you have to be intentional n making connections and learning has you halfway there.
