We didn’t meet our goal of 100 friends and followers each on Facebook and Twitter, but we did reach 74 Facebook friends and 46 Twitter followers. That’s just amazing! Let’s see if we can add another 30 to each by the end of February, so 104 Facebook friends and 76 Twitter followers.
Also, we here at the Lutheran Educators’ Guild have begun talking about creating a Lutheran Education-focused podcast. We’d like to know how many of you listen to podcasts on a regular basis as well as how many of you might be interested in listening to one focused on Lutheran education. What would you like such a podcast to “look” like and what topics would you want to have discussed? Please, let us know in comments, on the forum, or via email.

As we approach the end of the month, I’d like to thank all of our new friends and followers on Facebook and Twitter for helping us as we strive to reach our goal of 100 friends and followers on each of these social networks. Currently, the Lutheran Educators’ Guild has 74 Facebook friends and 40 Twitter followers. I believe we can still reach our goal with your help. Please tell your friends and followers about the Guild and ask them to consider following us.

This is just a notice to let you know what my school is doing next week. We are having Hats for Haiti and Dress Down for Disaster. Monday through Friday students can bring in $1 to wear a hat or $5 to wear what they want (as long as its appropriate) All money collected next week will be donated to Lutheran World Relief.
Today we welcome Kathy Maske, a Lutheran teacher from Illinois, to the writing staff of the Lutheran Educators’ Guild. Please join us in welcoming her!

A major reason for the existence of the Lutheran Educators’ Guild is “to create a community of fellowship and encouragement for Lutheran educators.” One way to do that is by spreading the word about the Guild to others. If you haven’t already, please take the time to become a fan of the Guild on Facebook (follow the link or use the Facebook Fan box on the right) and follow us on Twitter (@luthedguild). Please let your friends, followers, and PLNs know about us as well. Let’s see if we can reach 100 Facebook fans and 100 Twitter followers by the end of the month!
And while you’re here, please create a user account on the main Guild site so you can participate in our new forums.

It came to my attention today that the commenting system was not functioning properly. The problem was traced to a malfunctioning plugin and resolved. Commenting should now be working again. If you experience any further difficulties with it, please email webmaster@lutheraneducators.com.
You may have also noticed a substantial change in the appearance of the site today. We received a suggestion from one of our members that the light grey on dark grey look was very difficult to read. We hope the new color format improves on that.
Thank you, again, for continuing to read our articles. We look forward to hearing more from our readers in our new forum system.
God bless!

On behalf of the staff of the Lutheran Educators’ Guild, I would like to wish all of our readers a most blessed Christmas. For many of us, Christmas is a busy time as we travel, do last-minute shopping, get our homes ready to open to friends and family. It is our prayer that all of us would find the time to reflect upon the True Reason for the season, as we remember how our Loving Father gave us His Perfect Gift on that first Christmas so many years ago. And let us also remember that this Gift, the gift of salvation through Jesus, has been given to us that we might share it with the rest of the world.
Let us join our voices with the host of Heaven and sing: “Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace to men on whom His favor rests!” (Luke 2:14, NIV)
